Trade Licence Renewal in Dubai: Deadlines, Fines and Checklist

10 September 20265 min readEasyPRO UAE Editorial

When to renew your Dubai trade licence, what happens if you miss the date, and the document checklist that keeps renewal to a single day.

Renewal is annual and date-driven

Your Dubai trade licence expires on a fixed date each year. Renewal windows open ahead of expiry, and the practical rule is to start 30 days early — mostly because your tenancy contract must be valid first.

Checklist

  • Valid Ejari or free zone lease covering the new licence period
  • Renewed or still-valid tenancy for the registered address
  • Partner and manager passports and visas in date
  • Cleared fines on the establishment card and labour file
  • Approvals from any third-party regulator attached to your activity

What late renewal costs

Expired licences accrue monthly penalties, block visa and labour transactions, and can lead to blacklisting of the establishment file. Once the file is blocked, you cannot renew employee visas or amend the licence until fines are settled.

Changes worth making at renewal

Renewal is the cheapest moment to remove unused activities, update your registered address, adjust shareholding or change your workspace type. Bundling amendments into renewal avoids paying separate amendment fees later.

Keeping it to one day

Have the tenancy renewed first, clear outstanding fines, then submit. Our PRO desk tracks renewal dates for clients and files ahead of the deadline so trading never pauses.
